Welcome to Williams Funeral Home

Williams Funeral Service has an extensive history in Asheville. The legacy began at 57 N. Spruce St. next to the famous author, Thomas Wolfe’s home. It was known as the Brownell-Dunn Funeral Home. Roy Williams worked for the Brownell-Dunn Funeral Home and later bought into the operation and changed the name to Dunn & Williams. In 1957, W. Earl Williams joined his brother in the operation. As Asheville grew in the early 1960’s, the funeral service moved to our current location at 856 Tunnel Road, opened in 1965 by W. Earl and Roy A. Williams.

This new location enjoys a 200-seat chapel, known for its perfect acoustics. Earl Williams remains active in the operation, visiting the location and supporting the staff with his rich experience and history. Williams Funeral Service is privileged to serve the families of East Asheville, Beverly Hills, Haw Creek, Oteen, Oakley, and Swannanoa for almost 40 years at this modern location.

Williams Funeral Service was the first to offer advance funeral planning insurance in Western North Carolina. We continue to offer the most flexible advance planning options in Western North Carolina.

Our staff is diversified and trained in many types of services. Based on each family’s wish, we craft contemporary services or the more traditional requests. It is the honor of our staff to assist our families in creating tributes for their loved ones.
